“In the grim darkness of the forty-first millennium, there is
Whoa, whoa, hold on there. You thought that this was just your average, run-of-the-mill Warhammer 40,000 RPG? Well, you’re quite wrong. This is something new, filled with the limitless potential that is tenacity and imagination. This is:
Outlaw Bebop Fire Hammer Heath Effect 40.1k
Or Revolver 40k, whichever rolls of the tongue easiest.
“May those who accept their fate find happiness; those who defy it, glory.”
- Princess Tutu
Revolver 40k is Fantasy Flight’s Rogue Trader with some slight retooling and a tweak to the setting. Instead of the grimdark that pervades everything, this is a somewhat lighter, much more wild west, space adventure game. Dissecting the ‘true’ name of the game will show the ideas used to modify the setting and play style. With no particular order of relevance, tropes and themes from Outlaw Star, Cowboy Bebop, Firefly, and Mass Effect are going to be utilized to alter the standard Warhammer 40,000 universe to make a lower powered, but just as impacting game.
- A focus on smaller ships, with a crew only the size of party and maybe one or two extras much like Outlaw Star, Cowboy Bebop, and Firefly.
- Xenos being brought into the Imperium as allies, with little to no social stigma and penalties much like Outlaw Star and Mass Effect.
- Rather than the scion of a dynasty, you are a group trying to strike it rich and float from day to day by your own hard work much like Outlaw Star, Cowboy Bebop, and Firefly.
- Careers will be opened up to the other Xenos races and vice versa, and new Xenos races have been added in, creating a much more varied party.
So please take a look around. The page on the Imperium of Man lists of the most drastic and setting centric change to the Warhammer 40,000 mythos. Send me mail and comments on things you do and do not like. If you wish to use some of this for your own game, just ask and I can give you some pointers, more in depth explanations, and my reasoning behind certain choices.
So see you, space cowboy. Take care of your own and I’ll hear back from you when you make strike it rich.
ATTENTION ALL PEOPLES WHO ARE LOOKING AT THIS THAT WILL BE PLAYING THIS GAME
Much of this information is still in the works and isn’t completely thought out, poorly worded, or poorly laid out. If you see something that you think needs some work, don’t hesitate to tell me. Constructive criticism is awesome.
Also, some of this information might actually be information that your potential characters DON’T KNOW. It is simply waiting for me to go back over it and figure out what should and should not be hidden. By trusting you with access to these pages, I believe that all of you can keep your metagame information separate from your character’s information as it is finalized. Again, constructive criticism is awesome.
If you happen to have an idea for something that can happen in this universe, you are more than welcome to inform me. If I happen to like it enough, I will even try and make it work. Even better, you can work on some of that stuff on your free time, hopefully be fully integratable with this alternate universe, and you can run a campaign with it. This is an even better option as then I will get to finally play the game I’ve wanted to play since I bought the first book about two years ago.
Again, you’re all awesome.
